Our first expert is Justin Anderson, Audio Visual (AV) Specialist at the Lee C. Bollinger Forum. Justin oversees AV technology for Bollinger Forum events and has worked on everything from silent discos to film festivals. As AV experts, Justin and his team have a dedicated presence during event planning. Some events require fewer technical elements than others, but AV is something everyone should consider.
Justin’s advice to clients is to trust your AV team and include them in your event planning early.
“It’s not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘how’ it can be done. We’re versatile problem solvers and we’re here to make you look and sound good. You may be surprised at how seamless your production can be with simple, timely communication.”
One of Justin’s favorite events was in October, when six-time Emmy Winner Hank Azaria spoke with Columbia University Psychology Professor Dr. Kevin Ochsner about the topic of Social Neuroscience. The event, called “Sing for Science: Simpsons Neuroscience” featured Azaria as both himself, and the Simpsons character Moe the Bartender. This posed an interesting challenge for Justin and the AV team, because they needed to decide how Moe would appear onstage. After discussions with the artist, a 3D mesh model of the character, and the use of motion capture technology, the team was able to bring Moe’s image to life.
