Event Management Supports Chef and Restaurateur Judy Joo’s (‘97SEAS) Campus Takeover

February 26, 2026

The Event Management team recently supported a special two-day campus event featuring Columbia Engineering alumna and celebrated chef Judy Joo (’97SEAS), helping bring her cookbook tour to life for students.

Held February 11–12, the campus takeover celebrated Joo’s new cookbook, K-Quick, with interactive food experiences and opportunities for students to connect with the chef and restaurateur.

For the first event, hosted by Columbia Engineering Alumni, Event Management prepared Wang Pavilion for a hands-on kimbap masterclass and coordinated behind-the-scenes support for the live demonstration.

Ahead of the event, the team assisted with ingredient preparation based on Joo’s demo list and helped set up the space for a kimbap-making session where 50 Columbia Engineering students rolled up their sleeves to create the popular Korean dish alongside the alumna. Chef Jerome and the culinary team also created a buffet menu inspired by recipes from K-Quick, allowing attendees to sample additional dishes from the cookbook.

The takeover continued the following day at John Jay Hall with a Meet & Eat hosted by Columbia Dining and Pulmuone, a South Korean plant-based food company. Students had the opportunity to meet Joo, purchase signed copies of her cookbook, and enjoy authentic Korean dishes.
