Rounds Cook Angela Acorita removes freshly baked pain au chocolat from the oven.

Our latest expert is Angela Acorita, Rounds Cook at Faculty House. Angela works with Chef Leo and the culinary team at Faculty House to bake delectable in-house items for breakfast, including croissants, muffins, and gorgeous pain au chocolat to go with your morning coffee.

Angela’s advice to event planners (and home bakers!) is to focus not only on taste, but presentation too. Her tricks to elevate even a basic pre-mixed cake mix are: where it calls for oil, use butter; where it calls for water, use milk; and spend time on decoration.

“We eat with our eyes,” she said. “If something looks really good, you just want to grab it. And when we put love into what we make, it shows.”

Angela has been baking for almost 20 years and was interested in baking from a young age. Her parents nurtured this passion through classes, camps, and other opportunities for her to learn, and she eventually went to school to become a baker. At home, Angela bakes with her five-year-old son. Their favorite things to bake together most often include chocolate – a love they both share.
