Event Management Introduces Built-In AV and Zoom Capabilities in Burden Room

Event hosts in the Burden Room at Low Library will now benefit from a new technology upgrade designed to make meetings and presentations easier and more affordable.

In an effort to reduce audiovisual (AV) costs for rooms with fixed setups, Event Management has installed built-in AV equipment with integrated Zoom capabilities in Low Library’s Burden Room. The enhancement is especially notable because rooms in Low Library have historically not included permanent AV technology.

With the new system, groups hosting events in the Burden Room can simply bring a laptop to access the room’s full AV capabilities. After connecting a device, users can tap the room’s touchscreen interface to present content or launch a Zoom meeting within seconds. Instructions for operating the system are available on the credenza in the room.

The setup is designed to be intuitive and does not require an on-site AV technician. Users can walk in, connect their laptop, tap the screen, and start their meeting or presentation right away. Anything displayed on a laptop, including slides, videos, or other content, can be projected through the room’s system.

The integrated camera also enhances hybrid meetings. It automatically detects movement and speech in the room and can display up to four individual participants alongside a full room view, making it easier for remote attendees to follow discussions.

The installation represents a first step toward expanding built-in, self-service AV solutions across campus. Event Management is currently exploring similar technology options not only in Low Library but also in other popular event spaces such as Lerner Hall and Faculty House.

By making high-quality AV tools accessible without the necessity of additional technical support, the new system helps streamline event planning and keeps costs low while giving teams more flexibility to host meetings, presentations, and hybrid events.
